We offer placement opportunities for students desiring to participate in practicums or other internship programs within their academic institutions. While students from various departments are welcome to apply, graduate students pursuing Library and Information Science degrees are especially encouraged. RECENT INTERN PROFILE: AMY DITTMEIER
Amy Dittmeier is currently pursuing her Master’s in Library Science in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The School of Information Studies at Milwaukee offers interested students the chance to gain hands-on experience at a library or archival institution through the “Alternative Spring Break” program. Amy was paired with Gerber/Hart Library and Archives and spent March 17-21, 2015 helping to increase patron access to our periodical collection.
Over the week, Amy gathered information on almost 250 periodicals that Gerber/Hart holds. In addition to the title of the paper, Amy documented the location of publication, frequency of distribution, the target region, date range of our holdings, and the intended audience. These details will be used by volunteers and patrons alike to gain a better understanding of the informational treasures Gerber/Hart preserves for our community.
We cannot thank Amy enough for her contribution of time, energy, and expertise.
