Lending Policies

The following loan periods are in effect for circulating items:

Items from Gerber/Hart collections circulate only to active Gerber/Hart members.

• Books - 2 weeks, may be renewed for an additional 2 week period in person or by phone: (773) 381-8030.
• Videos - 1 week, may be renewed for an additional 1 week period in person or by phone: (773) 381-8030.
• Audio tapes/discs - 1 week, may be renewed for an additional 1 week period in person or by phone: (773) 381-8030.

Reference materials, periodicals, special collections materials, and archival materials do not circulate.

Overdue Items will be subject to the following fines:

• Books - $.10 per day per item (maximum fine: $5.00)
• Videos - $1.00 per day per item (maximum fine: $10.00)
• Audio tapes/discs - $1.00 per day per item (maximum fine: $10.00)

Borrowing privileges will be temporarily suspended for any outstanding fines.

Lost/damaged items will be assessed the following fees (when a replacement price is not readily available):

• Books - $20.00 per item
• Videos - $40.00 per item
• Audio tapes/discs - $15.00 per item

Reserves may be made on any items that circulates. Returned items will be held for the patron for a duration of 2 weeks before being returned to the shelf. Reserves may be made in person or by phone: (773) 381-8030. (Note that this service is available only for current members.)
